We are a couple born and bred in the Whanganui River area, specialising in hospitality and tours around our region.  The Whanganui River is rich in history, with many stories to tell, of Maori who settled along the riverbank as early as 1350AD, and the European settlers who started arriving in the late 1800s.

We can take you to see some of these famous cultural, historical and geological areas, and some which are not so well-known.  Of course along the way you will enjoy the amazing natural scenery, great food, organic coffee, and fun company with us - your proud tangata whenua hosts.

We have tours on different parts of the Whanganui River.  Some start close to Whanganui city, and others require a bit more time and a drive up to Pipiriki (2 hours from Whanganui city).
Havoc at The Fox is a 3 hour tour, and is a perfect day trip for anyone in the Wellington Region, especially welcoming members of the Petone Working Men's Club.  Our departure point is Pungarehu (our family Marae) only 20 minutes out of Whanganui.  We visit The Flying Fox (an organic B&B situated high above the Whanganui River) for coffee and muffins. Relaxing, not much walking, very nice.

Our Bridge to Nowhere Discovery 6 hour tours are great for a weekend stay. We depart from Pipiriki (2 hours from Whanganui) and visit an abandoned bridge, originally built in the 1930s to give road access to an isolated farming community.  This is a fantastic trip with more beautiful scenery around every bend , and we will fill you in on the story of "The Bridge to Nowhere in the valley of abandoned dreams", over a cup of coffee or tea, and some great homebaking.  This tour includes a 40 min walk (each way) to The Bridge to Nowhere.

If you would like to know more, give us a ring and we can let you know about all our tours in more detail, as well as some great places to stay along the Whanganui River Road, or in Whanganui itself.

Our aim is to provide a selection of quality tailored options for our visitors wishing to enjoy time on the Whanganui River - and for at least one of these to appeal to you!
